Johann Hummel (14 Nov 1778 - 17 Oct 1837) was an Austrian composer.
Johann Nepomuk Hummel was considered one of Europe's finest pianist-composers,
composed 64 years before the famous set of
Hungarian Dances by Johannes Brahms was completed. In 1804,
Hummel took up the illustrious position of Kappellmeister at the Austro-Hungarian court.
for the Esterházy prince, succeeding Joseph Haydn in that position.
